This retreat is for all freshman and is the only mandatory retreat at SJM. This experience serves as an introduction to retreat culture and is a day that promotes school spirit and class unity. Participants include the enitre freshman class along with volunteer leaders from the senior class.
This retreat is a very unique and meanigful experience for both the students and adult staff who attend. The philosophy of Kairos is built upon the meaning of its name. Kairos is an ancient Greek word that means the right or opportune moment (the supreme moment), in which we hear God speak. Participants and team leaders are engaged in a variety of activities and discussions throughout the retreat that explore life, faith, self, and relationship to God, with greater maturity and depth than the previously experienced retreats. The concluding challenge of Kairos is to continue to live out one's faith through the lessons realized while at the retreat, applying them to daily life at home, school, and in their church.
