As I reflect on what it means to be a student at San Joaquin Memorial three word comes to mind, FAMILY, FAITH, and FUTURE. Memorial is a family that all students and staff have a sense of belonging. This is a family that shares in each other’s victories and in each other’s struggles. This is a family where faith is our rock, hope is our future and love is our mission.
Each day we hear the words,
“as we strive to reflect the image of God let us utilize one of ourIntegral Student Outcome.” These few lines establish the morals and daily habits for our SJM community. We are encouraged by our
Integral Student Outcomes to grow, serve, and problem solve by following Jesus. Being a student at SJM is more than the excellence of the academia, more than victorious athletics, more than the inclusive environment; it is our home.
We are a FAMILY that prays together always! Once you are a student at Memorial you are forever a part of this family. Each day we, as a student body grow closer to God by
“actively participating in Catholic traditions and services.” You are never left behind or forgotten; you are always included in the intentions of Memorial’s prayers. This unique community bonds generations after generations. It is common to see alumni grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers and sisters at SJM events. Whether it be a sporting event, award ceremony, school mass, or as a school sponsor, once a Panther always a Panther.
Our FAITH is what bonds us. This alone separates us from any other high school. Faith has seen us through many difficult and unbearable life challenges. We are united in God and through our four years at Memorial. Our focus, at SJM is on others. We serve as Christ served, we are guided to
“serve the needs of others using his or her personal gifts.” We use our God given gifts to spread love and joy into the world. Serving others strengthens our faith and provides hope to others within our community. The opportunity to serve the community as SJM students lives in each of our hearts well into our futures.
Education, spirituality and service are the foundation of our FUTURE. San Joaquin Memorial builds these qualities in each student and prepares each by teaching us to
“utilize problem solving skills fueled by critical thinking, creativity, and innovation.” We are individuals that are encouraged to grow as God intends us to grow. We have a responsibility to our community and to our world to bring Jesus Christ into all our works of the future. Each level success is celebrated, and we utilized our accomplishments to serve. San Joaquin Memorial is where Family, Faith and Future gives us purpose, allows us to spread our joy and reminds us that all is possible through Jesus Christ our Lord.
St. John Baptist De La Salle, Pray for us.
